2008 Catalina Marathon
Competitor Update #3

Dear Athletes,

Only five days until the 31st Annual Catalina Marathon, 10K, 5K & Kids Run! The current weather forecast is excellent. Forecasters have projected of a morning low of 47 degrees and a high of 61 in the afternoon. Outstanding race conditions! The race day boat will leave Avalon at 5:00 AM SHARP. It is absolutely essential to have your boat ticket to get on board. Tickets can be picked up at registration on Friday evening. Ticket pick up will not be available race morning. If you fail to have the ticket on race morning, there will be at $25 charge that will be collected before you can get on the boat. No exceptions so please come prepared.

RACE START TIME CHANGES -- 10K & 5K The 5k and 10k start times have changed!! In order to accommodate a growing field of 10k participants, we have altered our 5k and 10k start times. The 5k will now begin first with an 8:15am start time. The 10k will begin shortly after the 5k at 8:20am. Complete List of Start Times:

Marathon Walkers: 6:30 AM in Two Harbors
Marathon: 7:00 AM in Two Harbors
Avalon 5K: 8:15 AM in Avalon
Avalon 10K: 8:20 AM in Avalon
Avalon Kids Run: 9:30 AM in Avalon

FLUID STATIONS There will be a total of 14 fluid stations on the marathon course. Each station will serve Arrowhead water, Gatorade Endurance Formula, and various tasty treats such as pretzels, M&M's, Swedish Fish and jelly beans. 10k competitors will have an option of hitting a fluid station three times (one station is positioned to allow for two fluid replacement opportunities). There will be one fluid station at the turn around of the 5k course. Each station will serve Arrowhead water and Gatorade Endurance Formula.

WHAT: Catalina Marathon Post Race Party
WHEN: Saturday, March 15, 2008 - 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
WHERE: Catalina Canyon Resort & Spa (our host hotel) Come join fellow participants at the Catalina Marathon Post Race Party. Family and friends are welcome! We will be offering appetizers and beer to quench your thirst and numb your weary legs.
