In addition to the 2006 closure of Pebbly Beach Road, Catalina Island was also hit with two major disasters in 2007 (fire & flooding). Due to the significant impact these events had on the City of Avalon, mandatory briefings are going to be enforced this year to ensure the safety of the Catalina community and our competitors. In order to utilize this route in the future in the event that Pebbly Beach is not open in 2008, we are going to need to ensure that every single athlete understands the course, the rules of the road, and City of Avalon emergency procedures. The course briefing is absolutely mandatory. NO EXCEPTIONS. Race packets will not be distributed until the briefing has been attended. Think of it as a pre-race pep talk and coaching session. Fees: Individuals: 2008 Fees TBD Relays: 2008 Fees TBD If you are having someone else pick up your race packet, you will have to download the waiver, sign it and have that person bring it with them. Relay teams will be issued one timing chip which they will pass from teammate to teammate.Relay Teams must either all come to the expo together to pick up your packets and sign the waiver or one team member may come with 3 signed waivers to pick up for the team. The open relays are male, female and coed. See the link above to download the waiver. |
